Aline, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

2012

Aline, 23, is an artist who lives in Lapa, Rio de Janeiro. We couchsurfed at her beautiful apartment and fell in love with her string art. Aline opens her home to both Air BnB customers and couchsurfers. As an incredibly generous host, she spends more time sleeping on her sofabed than in her own room.

If you had a superpower, what would it be

I don’t normally think of things that are impossible, but I guess I would like to fly.

When were you happiest

I am happiest when I finish a piece of art – not always, but when I like it.

What trait do you dislike in others

When people say or think something about something they know nothing about. I hate stereotypes.

What trait do you dislike in yourself?

I get easily distracted.

If you could invite three people, dead or alive, to your dream dinner party, who would they be

I wouldn’t choose specific people. It could be anyone – a friend, a family member, someone I met on the street. It could be you.

Describe your perfect day.

It would be a day where you didn’t have to worry about time. There would be no specific time to get up, no specific time to work, no specific amount of time for anything. It would be a productive day with free time too.

How would you like to be remembered

For my art work. To be immortalised by my artwork would be awesome.

What’s your greatest achievement?

Opening my house to strangers. I’ve learned so much about life, about experiences and about myself. I’ve learned how to live with others and how to respect.

Hey Victoria, I feel really glad for that. Thanks a lot (especially for correcting my English, hahaha).
I sincerely wish all the best for you and Steve :)
