Thanyá, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Thanyá, 13, lives with her parents and two brothers in Alemão. We met her when we asked for directions to the next cable car station. The walk between the first two had been simple, but as we looked out across the sea of favelas to the station on the opposite hill, the answer was clear: we needed to take the cable car. Instead of walking, we sat down with Thanyá and asked her our questions.
Describe your perfect day
I would walk and go to a beautiful place with a garden and a swimming pool. Then maybe we’d go to the beach and an amusement park. I’d like to visit all the different places in Brazil.
What’s your greatest love?
Skating and cycling, but I would really like to try skiing and see some penguins.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
I would be able to hypnotise people so they would always say yes. That would be awesome.
What’s your earliest memory?
I only moved here a month ago. My earliest memories are with my friends at my old home in São Gonçalo.
Where is your favourite place in the world?
